LG LFX25991ST 24.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

I love this refrigerator
We've had this fridge for a few months now and it's forced us to reevaluate food expiration dates. The first thing we noticed was the produce was lasting two to three times longer than in our previous fridge (a 2004 Whirlpool Gold). We just made a salad from two week old lettuce and it was almost as fresh as the day we bought it. Green onions, fresh cilantro, fresh parsley, and cucumbers have all at least doubled their shelf lives. We then began to realize that our deli meats and dairy products were also staying fresh longer. We used to have to throw out the milk within 3-4 days after the sell by date, when it started to smell. I just drank a glass of milk that was 11 days past the sell by date and it tasted and smelled the same as it did the day I opened it. The sliced turkey, ham and sliced cheeses have also been lasting significantly longer. I don't understand it, but it's awesome.
Everything else on the fridge has been great. Love the LED lighting, the counter...

Do NOT Buy LG Appliances: Can't get Service!!
This refrigerator looks very nice and it worked well until it stopped. The manufacturer CLAIMS that this refrigerator's capacity is 25 cu ft, but it's actually about 18 cu ft. The design inside seems to make it even smaller. I much prefer my old Amana. Nothing was wrong with my Amana; I bought a new LG because I remodeled my kitchen and wanted the look of a new fridge. Last Friday night at 6:00, I discovered that the food in my refrigerator was getting warm. The thermostat said 37 degrees in the refrigerator and freezer was 0 degrees, but food was warm in the refrigerator and things in the freezer were melting. (My brand new half gallon of chocolate ice cream was a carton of chocolate soup!) I started calling appliance repair services. Most were closed at 6 PM but the ones who did answer said, "Sorry, but we can't work on LG appliances." I asked, "Why not?" I was told, "Because LG will NOT ALLOW us to be a part of their service network and LG will NOT let us buy parts." The repair...

really great refrigerator, but don't underestimate the burden of counter depth
Ours has worked perfectly; ice-maker and water dispenser are great. And the whole ice/water package is in the door freeing up a lot of space. That's really important because even though this thing is only abut 4" less depth than a standard unit, it's a little tricky to get food arranged in it. We had to load and unload it a few times to get enough fresh food for two people in it. The trick is that everything thing as tall as a normal beer bottle must be in the right side door. All the tiny mustard bottle sized stuff must be in the left side door. Then you'll have enough space for the usual things in a fridge on the shelves.

The good news is that the doors have shelves that are really large and it is possible to keep a six pack, a couple of bottles of wine, and a gallon of milk in the right hand door.

A design choice that I don't care for is that vegetable bins are too small because there is a drawer for junk food under them. I would have skipped that wide short...
