Very easy and saves money
I thought I had to call a refrigerator repair man to fix the leak I caused by trying to remove the water filter. I went on line and was amazed to find out that this is a common problem. I saw a video on how to replace the filter housing. It looked simple enough to do. After checking other sites for the best price, I found it at Amazon.Com. I got free shipping and it arrived very quickly. It took me 15 minutes to replace the housing and new water filter. I am thrilled. I recommend you watch the various sites' video on replacing this product so you can be prepared with the socket screwdriver (2 sizes needed)
Look for the Small Parts and Watch the Video!
The package arrived intact, but without ANY type of installation instructions. Luckily I had already watched the video on how to install this filter housing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBKsbenMhVU). The new housing comes with two tiny extra parts that are separate from the filter. If you did not watch the video, you would not even know that these parts were part of the housing. These two, tiny "O" compression release valves were packed in a separate plastic bag and were just loose in the bag that the housing came in. They could have easily been discarded once the filter housing was removed from its bag. There should be some type of parts list and simple instructions included with this part (or at least a parts list and a reference to the online video). Of course once you tried to insert the water filter tubing, you would have seen that these release valves were not included.
